Granite School District reported that Gwen Coulson, an administrative secretary in the Teacher Onboarding and Instructional Coaching department, has received the October GEM award. Coulson was recognized for her leadership and operational execution during the district's New Teacher Orientation.
According to the district, Coulson managed the master schedule, coordinated presenter logistics, and seamlessly integrated last-minute unregistered new hires into the two-day event. Her duties also included organizing meals with Olympus staff, creating thematic decorations, and hosting external partners including the Granite Education Foundation, the GEA, and the American Federation of Teachers.
Colleagues highlighted that Coulson accomplished these tasks while simultaneously navigating active office construction and administrative purchasing challenges.
